You can just do 12 days a month first and then later you can apply for a few months wfh dur to family reasons, it will not ruin your image
Basically we need 60% attendance at quarter level so there is no problem
Did you have this conversation while joining ? Usually with your reason it may not be problematic but 50% attendance toh shayad fir bhi karna pade.. but have a word with your manager and space lead about it

Talk to your manager on the very first day - explain to them the situation you are in. They can grant you 5-6 months on WFH, without the need to even go twice a week. Most of them would understand. Another option, talk to the HR and delay the joining if you are not in a dire need of money.

Hey, sorry to hear about loss. My condolences to your family. I think for onboardimg you will have to come to office for 1-2 weeks. Post that you can take WFH if your manager/ HR allows. Even if they don't you can work from Office Mon to Wed and travel back to your home town on Wed EoD and come back next week on Monday morning. This way you can spend max time with your father. This way you can easily maintain 60% attendance.
In ZS you have complete flexibility, you can work 3 days a week, or 12 days a month or 3 months a quarter. Just your team should be ok with it.
