Hi, I am considering a BIE role at Amazon vs a Business Intelligence Analyst Role at TF. Right now, my priority is more around work life balance, and both roles are virtual/remote. I am concerned about work life balance with amazon, and would want something more stable. I think there may be offshore calls with TF, but overall have heard good things about wlb. Also , pay package isn't a big priority for me right now. Any advice or recommendations? Thermo Fisher Scientific
What’s WLB like in business roles at Google?

I’ve been a employment based (EB) imm attorney at a large firm for the last 1.5 yrs & was an EB paralegal for 2 yrs before law school. The work is pretty low drama & “urgent” matters aren’t life or death. My work isn’t as crazy as my friends who do litigation/trials in other fields. Depending on the exact work you’ll do, certain times of year may be hectic. If you’ll do H1B CAP, Feb-June each year will be busy. If you do EB green cards, Octobers can be crazy if the visa bulletin retrogresses.
Thank you for sharing! Very helpful.
Keep in my salaries for immigration attorneys are compressed and exit opps are limited
It all depends on the clients you work for. My main client is incredibly exacting and demands a ton of extra work, time, and attention. Also the field in general doesn't really have very many opportunities for legal research and writing. 60% of my job is answering emails and managing work flows. It also can be really repetitive work, very formulaic.
Work/life balance is awesome. I work 9-5 weekdays, if that. Work is very easy, but, as others have mentioned, repetitive and boring. Salary is fine, but not great. My favorite part of the job is that, at the end of the day, you're just helping normal people do normal things, and maybe even making the world a little bit better.
It depends, as always. I worked for 5 years at a boutique firm, low pay and fine balance. I’ve been in big law doing immigration for almost 2 years now and the pressure and time is intense, but the pay is nice
