I totally feel you on this. Being micromanaged is so counter productive in this field, it's insane how much corporate gets in our way. I've heard really good things about life insurance sales, but I haven't looked too far into that field. I think it can be very flexible though, like real estate
I’m about to sell my truck and get my license to sell insurance. Real estate is lucrative if you’re extroverted and specialize in a field. I do. The problem is constantly paying fees. It actually has startup costs
Post of the year!❤️
Real estate agent does not fit the bill, lmfao.
The vast majority of RE agents (87%) fail within the first five years, as per the NAR.
The median gross of realtors in 2022 was a paltry $56,400, as per the NAR. And that's after you've gained anywhere from 6-15 years of experience.
Realtors who report working between 40-60 hours per week have a median gross income of $85,400 meaning they're averaging less than two sales per month at $4,000 commission each, for 24 in the year totalling $96K in commission income.
Contrast that with the on-target income in tech sales ranging from $120K at the low end to $225K mid range, to over $400K for top earners.
(All numbers USD)
Making 30K on a single close in luxury RE means you're selling a $2.4M home with a 5% commission split 50-50 between selling and buying brokerages, with a further 50-50 split at each brokerage between the form and the agent.
Maybe you are selling an average of three such homes per month....over what period of time? The past six months? The past three years? Whatever the number is, it's an outlier and certainly not the average from what the hard stats show.
I have a gig for you. I am reluctant to leave my number here out in the open. But, I have spots on my team that fit what you're describing

Man I feel this. Thankfully, our office got another manager and I’m under the new much more laid back manager. Unfortunately, they’re now starting to feel the pressure from up above and it’s starting to drip onto the team.
Where can I learn more details?
But some of us managers DON'T actually micromanage... the reason we want out new sales people IN THE OFFICE is you will learn faster from your peers, and we can coach you on the spot. My employees walk over to my desk all the time and say "how should I do this?"... and I tell them immediately. If you were home, you would have to schedule a time I am open then we play phone tag.
I feel for you - truly - if you have a micromanager for a boss... but you have to also understand, we pay SWEET money, and the sooner you get it get ramped, the sooner we all make money.
What is more important - working from home, or the numbers on your paycheck?
