Unfortunately these days this is common, and moving forward will probably be SOP moving forward. The admin position is a utility player that is undervalued, if you are doing your job properly, they are unaware of it because everything is smooth, if you make one mistake it can be huge inconvenience for everyone….
Wow, that sounds incredibly frustrating!! With 15 years of experience, you deserve to be welcomed and supported, especially in a new role. It’s disappointing when there’s no clear communication or onboarding.. it’s like they set you up to fail. Definitely not the experience you should have had.

I am experiencing exactly this right now. I work for a nonprofit that is really not sure they understand how messy theyve been and now that someone is holding some people to account for creating those messes for previous other burnt out office managers (their deadpool count is 2 and me on my way out.) They really don't think we have a very clear view of these places. We are the ones that experience quite alot of disfunctional communications, terrible expectations, dangerous and toxic experiences by volunteers and board members alike as I have watched fellow staff members (director levels) get crapped on, used up and burnt out. I'm positive I am staring at a pink slip. Being pushed out is so exhausting when you see all the possiblities for growth and good work that could happen if people would step up or out of the way of themselves.
