There are so many possible answers to this. Stress is #1. Also, has she been sick at all this past month?
If she’s concerned I’d make an appt to see the doctor. Not that it isn’t possible, but most of the issues I’m aware of typically show themselves in too much bleeding rather than none.
There’s a chance she’s pregnant. There’s also unfortunately a chance it was a chemical pregnancy and her body has released it yet - that could explain low HCG but also no bleeding.

My period was a week late and my breast were super tender - test came back negative. I tested again a week later and test was positive and now we're expecting our first in March. Maybe she just needs time to get a positive result.
If she is older it could be perimenopause
Is she concerned or are you concerned?
Context: asking as someone whose husband was randomly overly involved in my period and it made me frustrated and gave me the ick. I’ve handled it for 29 years on my own, like stop encroaching on my autonomy and body functions.
It’s one time, no need to get concerned. There are SO many possibilities. Cycles can change, she could be pregnant, it could be a fluke, etc. No matter how reliably it came before, it doesn’t mean something crazy is going on if it’s a few days late one time.
She was first concerned, and so now I am, too.
