Hi all,
I have applied for my EAD card (I-765) on April 26, I do not have an SSN ether, I am still waiting for the approval, the estimate time of approval is about 60 days, now that it is past 60 days, I have an offer from a company which is asking me to join on July 10th, they currently have a started the background verification process which I cannot proceed without SSN, can you please suggest me on what I can do here? Do I go ahead and take up the premium processing option?

It would be recommended to take the premium processing as it would guarantee you that you will get the EAD in a week (max).

Another option is to speak to your manager/HR about the issue and ask them if they are willing to have you as a volunteer till your EAD is processed.

Because of the ongoing delays in EAD cards, I will suggest going for the premium if you are able to cover up to $1500. At least you will be paid if you have the EAD by your employer. It would be illegal otherwise.

I agree with going premium, it took me almost 3 months before the EAD showed up just about a week ago.

However, I was told that volunteering is not an option since legally it’s not „volunteering“ when you perform work that is supposed to be paid, which could risk your visa status.

I just received a verbal offer as a program manager at vp level from a US BB in London. Unfortunately the number was a round down of my current pay. I’m currently a business manager in banking and thinking to move to the program manager role as a step towards more broader opportunities in the future (COO, consulting type of roles).
Should I accept the offer?
The HR told me that there will be opportunities for promotion in the next 12 to 24 months.

Is there any realistic way where tipping in the US goes away and we start to be like other countries (e.g. Europe/Asia)? Raise the price of the food, pay servers a fair wage, no tips? Just a dream 😅

I'm guessing no because businesses will fight hard against this (customers subsidize wages) and certain servers benefit from tipping as well.

Only other thing I can think of is if everyone collectively decides not to ever tip again and it forces business to change. Won't happen though.
