In LA County:
Hoy-Ka and Jitlada in the Thai Town district of East Hollywood.
Orocon Ramen in Little Tokyo.
Newport Seafood in San Gabriel.
Xiangla Hui in Alhambra.
Golden Delight in Rosemead.
Ruam Mitr in West Hollywood.
Sushi Enya, Oji Sushi or Akira in Pasadena.
President Thai in Pasadena.
I could go on nonstop, but TLDR: the options are overwhelming and amazing.
Great list! +1 to most of these.
OP have you been to LA before? If not, LA is huge. If you’re aiming to do a little sightseeing in between meals, I’d target a locale per day.
Driving between West Hollywood and Pasadena is easily 1+ hours in traffic.
In San Francisco: check out Burma Superstar.
Ooh, big no to Burma Superstar (Bstar, Burma Love also, same restaurant family). They just settled a huge wage theft case. They stole tips from employees and withheld entire paychecks to back of house staff as "deposits" to be paid at the "end of their employment." Told the Burmese-only speaking staff that's just what we do here. So gross. At least they didn't physically abuse their workers like Yank Sing.
I actually just got back from San Francisco for the first time about a month ago 😂! In my opinion, you should get in a good tour of the city. I cannot remember the exact name of the tour I took but we visited the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, where the Grateful Dead lived as well as Jimmy Hendrix. If you love movies they do a movie tour in a big van (holds about... 10 people?) Personally I loved seeing the Palace of the Fine Arts (check to see it's open hours... It's FREE and beautiful!) And if you have a sweet tooth, definitely check out Ghirardelli Square 😉 It's in Fisherman's Wharf where there are a ton of good restaurants. Sea lions flock up to Fisherman's Wharf too.
Thanks a lot 🙏🏼😊 I’m so excited for the trip
Are you into fancy and cool? Or just good ol food. Sugarfish or kazunori are highly recommended as well! Also you can go off the Michelin guide too.
I’m more like good ol food type. Thank you 😋
I love brodards spring rolls in Westminster
Yea. The one in Fountain Valley. Also, the Vox kitchen is good too. It’s right in the same area. Then the alley boba is a couple block down. They have great cream brûlée drink.
Definitely go to sugarfish in LA. Best sushi per dollar you'll have for sure as it's quite affordable.
Don't drive in LA, it's way more walkable and transit friendly than I expected so I'm glad I ignored everyone's recommendations to rent a car every day. Go to the beach and enjoy!
