Go to Kauai. For real. Please don’t go to Maui and sit next to the pool and drink pina coladas for a week. You can do that in Orlando. I’ve been to Hawaii 8 times and never go anywhere but Kauai.
To be fair, it’s all beautiful but I feel like it’s such a waste when people fly all the way to Hawaii to stay in Waikiki or go to Maui and sit in the lazy river.

Second Kauai and would add the Queens Bath to M1’s recs above. Maui I love as well but Kauai just feels more peaceful to me. The beautiful thing about Hawaii is whatever island you choose, you can sit in a pool chair and order drinks AND go off on adventurous day trips. My trips are usually 30/70 split between the two.
Big island, so much more to see and better food

Not the commenter but I would definitely spend a night or two on the east side if you can! We spent a night at a retreat center in the jungle near Pahoa and it’s one of our favorite Hawaii memories. Probably the least touristy area of Hawaii we’ve ever been to.
Depends what you’re looking for. Personally I like Oahu the best because I’m a big food person and I can still do some great hiking there and enjoy wonderful beaches
Thank you all for recommendation, looking into them as we speak. I am more outdoorsy, like the beach and sightseeings. Not big on shopping and usually stay away from heavy parties, like good food.

To put it simply: Kauai is more outdoorsy, like a jungle almost, lot of opportunities to hike, kayak, etc. Maui is more subdued, often seen as the honeymoon location, but has a fair share of spots to check out like the road to Hana. Oahu is very much the generic family vacation with spots for the kids, historical spots like Pearl Harbor, and shopping so avoid if you don’t want the overly touristy experience. Big Island seems like it’s a mix of Kauai and Maui (just based on my research) as there’s plenty of beautiful beaches to snorkel in/kayak/SUP, hikes and national parks to do like Volcano National Park, as well as native Hawaiian sites to explore and learn more about the culture. As far as good food goes, that’s on all the items.
I’ve been to Oahu and Maui. We plan to spend 10 days next month doing the Big Island (4 days in west and 3 days in the east) and then the last 3 days in Maui. For a week, you could easily spend a week on one island.

I did a solo trip earlier this year and like this person above said, sat by the pool/beach and enjoyed pina coladas and Mai Tais. Best trip ever!! Highly recommend.
SM- what island did you go?
Ohau is an easy 1st solo trip. Some ideas: Hike Diamond Head (i even walked there from the hotel), take a shuttle to the rain forrest. Rent a car for the day and drive to the North Shore. In the evenings there are plenty of people around so you don't feel lonely. Lots of places to grab a drink and talk to strangers and get a nice dinner if you like.
I’m from Hawai’i (O’ahu). Totally depends on what you are into. If you’ve never been, I’d suggest Oahu. You can even hop on a quick flight to another island if you really want. FYI I hear car rentals are hard to find these days
