I will go first. Been here about 20 years and recently got my green card. Been thinking about moving back since the pandemic started. Worried about my 6 year old settling in, making the same amount of money in India (which I hear is hard).
I was visiting regularly pre pandemic. Planning a visit at the end of the year.

Hi, I am doing my PhD (28M) and will finish by next year. I am sure about going back. My timeline is 5-6 years of job after PhD. So, I giving extra focus on career choice that would make transition smooth.

I do understand that but my case is bit different. I grew up in a village and used to simple life. I don't mind chaos, inconvenience etc. Matter of the fact is, I am not very found of culture here as such. Also, I am the only child so I want to be close to parents.
That's why I am making 3-4 year plan. I could get a very good job as a scientist in pharma but that closes doors to do the transition back home. That's why, I am trying to get into consulting and then at least I will get some decent job back home. I don't have crazy expectations but 18-20 LPA after few years of consulting experience could be possible. If not India then I would like to move to middle east.
I have been also saving every penny as well and have farm land and enough to sustain myself back home in the worst case. Anyways, let's see.
