TBWA NY recruiter?
Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

I would not push back your start date., I would instead push back your notice date. Wait until your background check clears then give a notice for however much time you have until your next job starts. The concept of a two week notice period is outdated. Your employer would give you a two week notice if they decided to fire you.
The estimated completion date of the background check is 2 weeks from now (3 weeks since I filled out the info for the background check). I didn't know it'd take that long. Based on the estimated completion date, I wouldn't have the chance to give notice at all.
Best practice is to wait until your background check clears before giving notice, but if you don’t have anything to worry about then it might be ok.
Most places check credit, education, work history, and criminal. If you have decent credit, graduated from where/when you said you did, left in good standing from your previous employers and haven’t committed any felonies you’re probably ok.
Hmm. It should be ok as they are just verifying you worked where you did when you said you did. But in this case I might ask to move the start date to make sure you’re following best practices before giving notice to your current employer. They should have told you upfront how long the background check takes and allowed you to factor that into the agreed upon start date. Seems like kind of a miss on their part.
I see the situation and would also not really be sure what to do. Background checks, barring anything odd, usually go through without much of an issue, but always like to be prepared for anything too. I would be hesitant to push back the start date again, is that just so you can give your current the 2 week notice?
Yes, I'm ok with giving my current only 1 week notice although it's unprofessional, but I definitely want to give them notice. However the estimated completion date of the background check is 2 weeks from now. And based on that, I wouldn't have the chance to give notice at all.
Resolve your personal issues for sure. Your old company knows you and your issues. They've learned to live with it. However, a new company doesn't no you like that. Keep it to yourself. Additionally, you also know yourself. If you have something that may be questionable in your background, don't give notice until you are 100% clear ed
