Hey there,
I am going through a similar phase where even after spending a decade in design I'm struggling in order to break into UX my career has mostly been in graphics and I would like to move into UX but I receive more rejections now than I ever have, with this domain change.
Don't lose hope and keep trying your best, something worthwhile will come along sooner or later.
Good luck!
Same brother applied to more than 200 places not a single interview, I think now it's time to switch my field, I really love designing but I see no hope here!
I am feeling lost too, my education background is in computer science engineering, i am thinking of giving 5-6 months in learning something new where there are a bit of opportunities unlike design.
Same here. I can't even get an internship and I already have 9 months experience as a game designer. I get that it's not the same as UX UI but it's a start and I feel like I should at least be getting interviews to make my case
What really helped me land internships was my “previous experience”. At first, when I started applying, I hardly heard back from any of the places I applied to. So, I decided to join a startup as an unpaid part-time intern. That move opened more doors for me. In just five months, I landed a paid internship, this just shows companies prefer candidates with experience. It's worth noting that despite having three internships under my belt and being enrolled in a degree in Interaction Design, I still have a tough time getting any responses from job portals, let alone landing interviews. The sheer number of applicants is a big factor, and many companies rely on referrals for hiring. That's why networking is crucial. Reach out to everyone in your connections, you never know who may have leads. Even with a year of experience, online portals don’t lead to any responses for me, only reaching out to people helps.
Same here, I can feel you, let's do this together
