I have worked with Forbes top companies, for-profits, non-profits, & startups. I consider myself a solver of complex & complicated problems requiring mixed method research & novel solutions. This has led to issues in self-referencing title. I’ve been project manager, data engineer, developer, modeler, analysts, principle DB developer, etc. Most of my w2 work has been from offers of 1099 clients so I am usually asked to define my own title. Any T-shaped data people who run into this?

Are agency PMs paid more than brand side PMs? I work at a small brand and we don’t project manage Verizon type high paying clients nor are we a fortune100 tech company. Wonder what is a fair pay for someone with 2-5 years experience (I saw the spreadsheet but focus is agency it’s looks like). Like 40-75k seems to be the range?

How do you deal with a client that is reluctant to give you the needed information and gets pissy with you when you ask for more thorough explanations I don’t wanna ruin the client relationship dynamic but almost every single engagement I am on the client is always in a bad mood. Anyone know what full-time remote project manager salaries are, for those who work in healthcare? How do you get into something like that? I’m currently in my mid 20’s and manage ambulatory medical clinics, after previously managing nursing homes, with my bachelors in healthcare Administration but am honestly getting burnt out in my current role.

Say if the pay was largely at par, what would you prefer 1) service handful of clients in your industry / region with more of client specific challenges and high level of operational control on outcomes 2) run a large national P&L with more of strategic challenges but limited direct control on outcomes.

I know as attorneys of color, we often find ourselves being in a room with dozens of attorneys and still were the only attorney of color (I’m a brown woman, very often the only brown person AND only woman in the room). I’m starting to attend more client meetings and depositions, trials, etc. and I’m noticing it more and it’s starting to distract me bc I start overthinking it in the moment. How does promotions and other things work? Is it just how you retain business with clients or how is it justified like who is working what in the project?
Are people expected to continue doing what they are doing right now? Do people have to take extra initiatives climbing up the ladder or work will be assigned from upper hierarchy themselves.

Freelance Project Opportunities in Gulf region

Looking for some advice. Not a regulatory lawyer by training. Partner asked me to research an issue and determine (on a budget and on a time crunch) whether a particular regulation applied to our client’s niche industry. I, on that budget and time crunch, determined it did not. Couple of weeks go by, client is still working on the issue without me, and decide to put me in touch with opposing counsel who point out additional authorities and cites and convinces me it applies. Would you take high risk / high reward consulting gig at a small firm? Comp is hourly and project based. Firm has a good foothold in the niche market. Offers lots of flexibility. But no benefits and since it’s project and hourly based it’s feast or famine. If you have a partner (spouse, domestic partner, etc.) and they had a stable job, would it change your perspective of taking the high risk/high reward role?

All you Tableau folk- have a question that's been bothering me like crazy all day. I cannot whatsoever get my worksheets to overlap in my dashboard using parameters. Parameter itself works fine, but they keep taking up half of my screen rather than just overlapping to take up the full screen. Reading through some possible interview questions for FAANG. One of the ones I've seen on Glassdoor are to design a basic architecture structure for something like Netflix or Twitter or Spotify. I've been researching online using AWS or GCP (still learning all the moving parts of architecture). Any advice on how the setup would be? I'm assuming you'd start with some Load Balancers. For Netflix maybe have different different APIs for signing up vs scrolling through possible movies?

My background is in CIS and data analytics had 3 internships , prior to my first full time job where I leveraged the typical Tools. SQL , Tableau, excel , python etc. have my Masters in CIS with concentration is BI. First full time job was consulting at Accenture for Workday Data conversion. Why does business analytics equate to analytics platforms that enable insights? I come from a background of a phd in math and where I developed custom algorithms for a DoD client that met their needs, but now that I’ve transitioned to a retail client, analytics suddenly means “tools” or “platforms”. What happened to the creativity to say there’s this mathematical formula in this other field that does X and another that does Z and if you stitch them together, it’s what you what (I.e company IP)?
