I used to get asked to whip up an invite or sign etc. as a favor. I eventually started a business and except for close family nothing was free.
If you don’t have a website already, I’d recommend putting a website together to showcase your services. I’d also recommend reaching out to prior people that you’ve previously helped for free to get testimonials about the value you delivered them that you can publish on your website - that way when you get the objection that people can do the work you are offering by themselves, you have tangible and documented examples of how you’ve helped others in the past.
There's a place on LinkedIn where you can add services you offer. You don't need to decide on a niche at the moment, over time you'll figure out what you'd like to focus on. You don't need a website at first, but do come up with a list of what you do and the rate and when someone asks send it to them and offer to set up a brief (15-20min) free consult to discuss what they want in more detail. If they can afford it they'll call. Absolutely I am on board with giving freely, but there's a limit so you can take care of you. Some decide on 5-or 10% of their business is pro bono or sliding scale.
Start your own business or just tell them no.
