any of you pick up freelance work on the side? how do you find it if not via LinkedIn?

What's a good base salary to live comfortably in the San Jose area for a single person? Thinking about interviewing/moving out there from East coast but seeing the rents is giving me sticker shock.

Fellow introverts...can I only advance in my career if I take on a leadership role? The thought of this terrifies me. My current boss hasn't exactly given me the confidence that would reassure me that I'm leadership material. He constantly questions my design choices, which I'm able to defend. It doesn't help that he always presents outdated ideas and throws UX out the window. I know that I know my stuff and keep up with best practices. I have 4+ years experience but am treated as entry level.

A partner I work for keeps asking for ETA's on assignments I have already submitted to the senior associate on the deal for review. Does it sound like I'm throwing the senior associate under the bus if I say I have already submitted to senior associate and am waiting for feedback? I feel like the partner will get upset at me even more if my answer sounds like I haven't submitted the assignment to the senior associate yet.

Kind folks, I have 3 yoe in the Cyber security domain. Currently earning 7lpa. What should be a target salary and highest variation I can target?

My girlfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 8 months now. We talk every single day online and recently I went to visit her for around a month. When non-ad ppl ask you what do you do? In terms of title; do you tell them “copywriter”? Or immediately assume they dont know and might confuse it with copyright infringement, and just end up telling them that you’re a writer or a creative director, and skip the hassle

I think it’s so crazy that once you sign-full time as a CW, you can’t freelance as well. Feels like there’s so many opportunities out there for freelance roles but the full-time gig steals us from them ☹️
