Sorry to hear. Keep trying though!
VC is a relationships game. Often times they like atypical and accomplished folks who have a proven track record of success (e.g prestigious schools, prior exits/Startup experience, some sourcing and diligence experience).
PE is a totally different beast. PE almost always recruits from IB exclusively, there’s maybe 20% that hires from less traditional backgrounds (e.g. consultants, strategy analysts) but is pretty constrained.
Can confirm what OW1 and SID1 are saying. I started my career at a PE fund as an investment analyst and am currently at a VC fund.
Your game plan for PE and VC are going to be drastically different, and you can’t interchangeably use either, it’s an apples to oranges comparison.
My suggestion - figure out what you really like (crunching numbers or talking to founders), deepen your understanding and then reassess your interviewing skills.
You’re good enough to get first round interviews, you need to get better than those who have figured out what they like about the job/industry and have taken concrete steps to enter the ecosystem.
