I gave 4 rounds of interview for Manager 1 but the final decision was that I am unable to raise the bar. The recruitment coordinator asked me if he can keep my details or share my details to his colleagues so that they can check if I fit in some other role in future. Any idea about the cool off period?Amazon
Anyone at Google open to networking? My new role (haven’t started yet) is senior and I want to start building my network in advance so I don’t feel so lost and alone at such a big company when I join!! I love getting to know people! If you’re open to getting to know a Noogler and be part of my network/support system, I’d really love to chat and learn about you/what you do/where your group fits into the big picture. Google DM me :) 🙏🏻

I'm honestly going to say it depends on your financial obligations. Can you afford the pay cut without additional mental anguish? If yes, go. If you're not sure, I'd personally try to stick it out until I found a position that I could afford to make the jump.
I've done it in the past. In the early 2000s I was making a whole $45k a year and I quit to go to apart time internship at $20k a year plus benefits that allowed me to go back to school full time and complete my degree. After I finished, I started with that company for $70k base (remember this was like 2003) and wound up staying there for several years. Then when I finished my masters degree and made a jump I went to $105k a year in about 2011. My pay has been pretty stagnant since, I'm currently at $115k but it's stab3 income while my kids are in school. 5 more years until the younger is in college and I can consider the same moves to change career tracks.
Sorry for the daft question, if you’re an engineer, why are you at 115k. Mind sharing what field of engineering?
I did just that this morning accepting an offer at a start up. We will have to move out of the Bay area to make it work (250k TC to 160k TC), but the social politics of my current environment are far more complex than I can navigate and it's hurting my mental health. My company was acquired 6 months after I started and the culture changed to one I never would have chosen to join in the first place. The new job is also fully remote, which relieves a lot of the sensory problems I have in office environments.
