Hi guys, I am in a process of receiving an offer from my current employer’s US Branch. However, the job is gonna be in a different department (M&A) than the one I worked for here (Audit). Would that be an issue with respect to the L1 visa process? Thanks for the advise.

I’m not well versed with Ls but I don’t think that matters, at least for basic qualification for the visa. If you have been with the foreign affiliate for at least one of the past two years, then you might be fine. Let the company’s immigration attorneys deal with it.

I am on my 3rd H1B company and joined recently. The current employer is someone whom I have worked for before. If I get a better offer in the upcoming months, I would take it. I am concerned that the current one wouldn’t give me a customized Employment Verification Letter. I would need to get it from a common company template. How important it is to have a customized EVL and signature of the manager?

My current H-1B with PwC expires in July 2023. I also have an approved I-140 from over a year ago. Green card isn’t close since I’m an Indian citizen. I’m switching jobs and wanted to check if the H-1B transfer with my new company will give me a fresh new 3 years (up until Oct 2024) or up until the end date of my current H-1B (July 2023). Recruiter isn’t sure and is checking with their immigration firm. I haven’t found anything definitely online to validate their answer when I get one. Thanks!

How do you know when you have enough money? I got laid off in the spring, but don’t feel a pressing need to get a new job right away. Have 3 rental properties, all paid off, get about $3k/mth net from that, have about $200k in a 401k and another $200k in more-liquid investments. I spend less than $2k/mth and feel happy and comfortable. Not married and no kids... but would like that one day, so thinking of maybe saving some more money for that.
