It might be worth revisiting your CV and how you’re framing your experience in the screening stage, and sometimes it’s about tailoring your examples directly to the agency’s needs or culture. Also, consider asking for feedback from interviewers if possible. Practicing with a mentor or recruiter could help spot any blind spots in your pitch. Keep at it...sometimes it just takes finding the right fit!
I recommend going through and exhausting your network for referrals. Someone who is referred typically gets a little more attention and consideration over those who simply apply via the company site or a job posting site. I’d also recommend having a tailored portfolio if you can - (i did this for my current job and believe it’s what made me stand out and get the job). I made a branded, hardcopy booklet of my cover letter and my resume followed by my top 6 strongest work examples paired with a mini case study for each project that showed the objective, the solution and results/success. It may sound taxing to feel the need to do this for multiple places you’re applying to, but I did it where i could easily switch out the company names/job title I’m applying for so that i could use it for multiple applications, then slightly tweak the cover letter to align with the specific job posting. Then you can upload it when applying where the site asks for work samples or a portfolio, as well and provide it during in-person interviews. Overall, it showcases yourself as a detailed and strategic creative while literally showing examples to back up your cover letter and resume. Best of luck on your journey!
This is great but how would you share this during virtual interviews? I've had many and none of them asked me to walk through my portfolio which now that I think of it is odd because last time I was job hunting 10 years ago, they did. I just assume they review it beforehand or when I'm selected to meet
Getting the initial screening is a good sign. I would say to be really hyper-focused in those interviews. Use specific examples and every time you speak, think about how you can relate it back to that agency's specialty or need
