Anyone else prefer the regional Amtrak to Acela? I think the regional seats are a little cozier.

Definitely regional over Acela - much more comfortable, although I got a regional back from Boston last week that had new seats in business class that were like the Acela seats. Too short under the thighs for comfort.

like

Absolutely! The seats on the Acela hurt my back, they’re too uptight and don’t recline much

I️ take I️t sometimes if it fits better with my calls. Feel like the Acela always gets in with not enough time to make I️t to the office before my next call

Shit, I hope that they don’t ruin the regionals EY2!!!

@P1, you and me both!

Hello travellers!
I had booked a deluxe private room in Zostel Srinagar for Oct 3 and 4. There has been a change of plans but unfortunately it's not refundable. However name change is possible. If anyone is interested to purchase, please let me know. (3k is the room fee)

Not sure how I feel about the airplane maintenance today.

I haven't been on here for months. Just got caught up in life and this crazy year. I am so glad to see many more of you have joined this group, because I don't know about you, but I am surrounded by people at work who think the opposite of the way I do. And right now, there is so much going on that I am terribly upset about and cannot talk about it at work unless I seek out the few who are conservative and have my values. Glad we have found each other here!

Not necessarily a Trump personality fan but putting America first should be our priority. My Trump votes were votes for conservatives and against the elitist Hillary and vegetable Joe. The left has done nothing but create chaos. Luckily, I work in a conservative area. Most of my colleagues are right leaning.

I got offered a position as a Wealth Management Banking Specialist and was offered $75,000 base pay with a 5% increase after a year. I am working on 8 years experience in the industry, investment licenses, and a bachelor’s degree in financial planning. I feel like this is low. Any thoughts?

Hey folks. Question for the majority of us still under the big 3 holding co’s...are raises a thing anymore? I’ve been at my (smaller) agency almost 5yrs and got one raise (a nice $12k bump) during that time—is that sufficient? Is one increase in that span normal? I also recognize being somewhere 5 years is rare these days. The honeymoon period at any agency seems to be 2.5—3yrs before bolting. Not complaining, just asking. Have y’all been getting raises/bumps in any kind of regular cycle? Thx.

Additional Posts in Consulting

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

Would anyone be willing to connect for internships or work for companies that love non-traditional candidates? Thank you

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
