Typically I don’t like them. Oftentimes it makes me wonder if the creative will be hard to reign in or be led through an idea. I’ve never seen a proactive idea I would buy. I imagine some CDs will feel differently and appreciate the ego stroke but for me… nah.

No. We are not allowed to accept unsolicited ideas.
Don’t share ideas. Demonstrate your appreciation for the brand during the interview by being intimately knowledgeable about current and old work and why it is working for them. Then you can speak to how you are tapped into that brands culture and speak very lightly about how you can uniquely add value.
From someone who did this, don’t do this.
The one time I did this the agency ghosted me and 6 months later there was the idea made for a different one of their clients. Another creative working there I met months later told me they requested me as a partner multiple times and were told I was probably happy where I was so they didn’t reach out.
The agency is Mother btw. Buncha hacks.

In the interview just say your brain keeps churning out ideas you really like for the brand or brands. Though you know it's premature to share anything without a proper brief.

Can you not read? Don't share them was the gist.
All downside for the candidate, no upside.
It mainly depends what’s kind of idea you propose. if that‘s benefit to the company are a plus
