Everyone learns on their own… you really think people in corp dev or IB just magically know how to do it? You just learn on your own.

Yes there’s studying but I also understand his point that there’s a difference between studying and on the job learning or doing things on a consistent basis. I recently took a modeling test that I studied a week for and there were things I’ve never seen before, really only if you were on the job.
Obviously it’s up to everyone to figure it out themselves, but doesn’t mean there’s still a stew learning curve
It’s two dif jobs…. You’re going to have to find a way on your own time / dime (WSP, WSO, etc.)

Best thing you can do is explain whatever experience you have going through banker models on deals and what you’re doing in your free time to get more experience (courses, learning, etc.).
