I’ve applied to everywhere and nothing, literally in the same boat as you.
Tell me about it, I’m starting to sound desperate which I am. I’ve updated my resume 3 times and my portfolio but honestly I think it’s just the job market in general. It sucks right now, hang in there.
all the holding companies are struggling with two major one merging and other planning on selling non profitable and layoffs happening often.
its the industry its horrid right now.
I highly recommend if you get desperate to apply nationally instead of locally and take what you can get - even pay for a move. its a number game.
if not, find something else for 1-2 years outside the industry to keep you going until something local happens.
good luck all.
Yeah I have seen lots of layoffs, and I agree that the industry is horrid right now. It just sucks that I did not look at applying nationally early on in my career, and just stuck with the limited opportunities in my small town with low pay.
I am feeling desperate for self improvement seeing my batchmates who studied the same thing as me have gone so far with them sticking to Advertising agencies(like Dentsu lol)
Yeah I am now really trying my hardest. Been applying since last year. I just want to be more
creative again in comparison to my current job.
If I don't find a new job I'll just stick with this current job and be a SAHW. XD Thanks
Try the recruiter Rita Armstrong at Engaging talent.
Thanks! sent her a connection
Good luck. The main ways of course are to apply to open positions or network and build a reputation with people connected to agencies in creative roles.
But the market is insanely saturated right now and a lot of people with experience, as well as new graduates and stuff, are competing for fewer positions. And/or companies are wanting cross-functional people who bring additional adjacent skills and experience. Not to be a downer. But many people start applying and feel like something is wrong with them when they don’t get a lot of action in response. Just keep in mind it’s not just you, if you run into this.
You could also look at internships and fellowships, which some agencies offer. That would get you a foot in the door and experience.
Seems like most places really don’t do relocation anymore. Especially not for junior-mid roles. But you never know. I’m rooting for you though. I’d be happy to relocate to Seattle too. Love it there. Lots of great people in the creative space there too, including agencies.
Thanks, been applying since last year and have networked a lot but stopped as I got burnt out . I am applying again and I do feel so defeated. I know I am talented, loyal and learn fast. Hopefully I can improve and add more to my portfolio, tbh it just sucks to always make passion projects as the ones I am doing at my workplace is not creative enough to showcase lol.
I really don't want to move but I am open to since my husband is also looking for a job in Seattle . I know that I don't have to work if he does get a job there(he said) but I just REALLY am desperate and want to work, learn and grow my career. I love Seattle too! I love nature, I have been there once and they have amazing food.
