I lost my job at the end of Feb (notified mid Jan). I had 2 offers in hand by the 3rd week of March and started the second week of April…so plenty of opportunities out there, but it took a solid 90 days from my first application to start date.
What’s your are of expertise and industry sector
how is kpmg? hiring or laying people off?
Both
Have had 4-5 interviews over the past few months but still haven’t cracked it. In two, I reached the final round. For one, they went with an internal candidate. Mind you, these have been at big companies (think adobe and Salesforce), so I know competition is tough. But still…I am finding way to get into interview processes, it just takes a lot of outreach/networking. Zero of these interviews have come from cold applying. All have come from being referred, and then hunting down the hiring manager/recruiter and directly emailing them.
Just got rejected after a final round… been unemployed for awhile… it’s been very challenging to get interviews… wondering if it’s my age or my narrow capabilities
Been applying for five months. Multiple interviews with hiring managers but nothing else.
What helped you land these interviews? Referrals?
Exited to Corp strategy from a strong boutique recently - got a title bump with great WLB
took 6 months and several companies where I made final round and got great feedback but ultimately there was a better candidate
What’s your comp as corp strat sr manager? Curious bc I think I’m way underpaid
I’ve found it tough. But could also be a function of being in a smaller market.

It's challenging. Have made it to 7 final rounds in the past year with 0 conversions. That said, getting interviews has not been crazy difficult.
