It won't matter as much as it used to. But it would be best to have an interesting explanation for why you took the year and what you did. Probably looks a lot better to say you trained and climbed El Capitan than you sat on the couch and watched Netflix for a year.
Just explain that to employers and why you took the gap year. You may have to start a bit further back from where you are at, but at the end of the day, don’t feel like you can’t take a break just because you have to fill a resume.
Last time I interviewed I was told pretty explicitly by the interviewer “nobody really cares about gaps anymore” and moved on.
Doesn’t matter. Especially outside the US
If you have a good reason, it doesn’t matter. But it’s harder to land a job afterwards.
How does one pay for a gap year?
Yep, that tracks
I took a gap year during covid and had no issue finding a new job. It’s easily explainable in PA. Just say you were burned out and needed a reset.
Seriously? Soft AF tbh. I could understand a two week to a month off to recharge. A gap year is a term used when you don’t go to college right away. Not on the real world of work.
Hey, if they’re able to afford it, why not? OP ain’t got nothin to prove. We’re accountants, not soldiers.
