‘Non-citizens’ is a very wide term to throw out in such a bold claim. A little specificity on your part would go a long way and hopefully get you out of this over generalized paranoia.
It’s not mental gymnastics for me ma’am. While you’re over there screaming ‘liar’ into the void as a way to create discourse about a topic you literally haven’t even done the the due diligence of cross referencing the headline you posted with 2 other articles or even a blanket google search for validity’s sake, you’ve missed many explanations and breakdowns as to why you’re so dangerously off base with the whole ‘liar, liar, pants on fire’ bs
FYI, noncitizens pay income, payroll (FICA-social security and Medicare), sales, and property taxes. “Noncitizens” make up a huge group, some of whom are “undocumented” and many of whom fall into immigration classifications like LPR/green card holders or various other visa categories. Depending on the category of noncitizen (i.e., what we call a person’s “status” - just look up how many types of permanent and temporary visa categories there are in the US), a noncitizen may or may not be allowed to access public benefits. As a group, noncitizens pay way more into the tax pool than they are allowed to benefit from or receive. They are getting the short end of the stick, not US citizens
Calm down. Nobody lied. It's just not black and white. Lawfully present immigrants may qualify if they meet eligibility requirements. This includes refugees, asylees, and green card hold holders. Undocumented immigrants, though, are not eligible for standard Medicaid, CHIP, or Medicare. That has not changed. Some immigrants had limited coverage under the Health Benefits for Immigrant Adults program in Illinois, but that was paused in 2023. By Democrats, who -- once again -- took the needed action to manage rising costs and budget deficits, specifically the $3.2b crater left behind by previous Governor Rauner and his catestrophic budget impasse.
The relevant question isn't why did Democrats lie ('cuz they didn't), but why are Republicans so cruel and stingy and deflecting? Their need to fabricate bad guys, play the victim, and blame everyone else for their own moral and economic failures is sickening.
Accenture, let’s not go after other peoples IQ when you’re screaming ‘liar’ bc you’re not grasping that there are many classifications of ‘non-citizen’ residents and the type of aid/ coverage available to each one of those groups…
No one lied, you just gotta use your noodle kid.
Uhh... the program literally had its own web page on the official Illinois HFS website. As stated there the program ended on July 1st, 2025 and had the goal of providing healthcare to those aged 42-64. Or, in other words about 3 weeks ago this ended and does not apply to all, so not particularly breaking news.

If this was a secret, this is a pretty terrible way of keeping it that way. Especially because healthcare coverage appears *to still* be available to at least some non-citizens over the age of 65.
Accenture, let’s get off that miniature horse for a sec … the links to the pages w/ the info you need are literally in your face click it and witness the power of knowledge.

Try reading the article, not just the headline
can tell you still haven’t understood the article…
I don’t know what claims you’re talking about but it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that legally documented immigrants are entitled to healthcare. They pay into the system, of course they should get a benefit. Non citizens aren’t a tax burden, it’s red and rural counties lmao
Errrr, yeah. Not surprised at all.
