A functioning system of social housing, medical and psychological supports. So… we’re probably going to do nothing.
Pick up from the streets, test for drugs, if positive, institutionalize. Charge with possession.
So done with the silent permission from Chow, the province and the federal government for drugs on our streets.
Hong Kong (through triads among others; likely even government promotion) has been shipping fentanyl precursors through the Vancouver ports illegally. The government of Canada has no proper racketeering laws and loose enforcement/bail laws. There is also evidence of corruption in law enforcement and even the political side that has not been addressed. So drugs are easily accessible. Next thing is there is no forced rehab. You have the commie and hippies in the country vote for free clean drug handouts without the mandatory rehab that needs to go hand in hand with it. With easy access and no rehab, you now have a drug problem that will just get worse. Only thing you can do to fix it is not vote liberal and vote for a party that will actually tackle these issues properly.. The liberals have had their chance long enough and have dropped the ball on this among numerous other things. Only thing their good at is public pandering to the uneducated masses on issues they are not qualified to make decisions on.
We learn from Singapore and other Asian countries.
Don’t live in downtown
Housing goes a longgggg way to providing them help. Unfortunately, we've manufactured a housing crisis by limiting supply and increasing immigration. Upper middle class people can't even afford homes. We need to build an abundance of housing and make it difficult for people to own multiple properties. That will bring the cost down and municipalities will easily be able to buy/rent properties to provide to those in need.
I agree, in general, that housing should be cheaper and people should be discouraged financially from owning multiple properties.
But regarding helping people living on the streets…. The City of Toronto already spends over a billion dollars a year on public housing. (The police department and housing is where the city spends most of its money.) I don’t think more housing is the answer. People suffering from mental health and addiction can be given a free home and could still end up on the street.
