How do you ask about promotion paths in an interview without sounding like you’re already planning to leave the role?
I want to understand if there’s growth potential in a role I’m interviewing for, but I don’t want it to come off like I see the position as just a stepping stone. How do you approach this conversation without raising red flags that you won’t stick around long?

You can emphasize that you're interested in growing with the company and advancing your career over time. I wouldn't worry too much about the position seeming like a stepping stone, most companies want to foster ambitious employees within the company.

That kind of brings me comfort in a way, so thank you!

I’m taking note of this for sure. I appreciate it!!

What do you mean? Your involvement?

I usually emphasize my interest in growing with the company over time

Interviews go two ways. Understanding if growth within the organization is supported is absolutely something you should ask about. It shows you are looking for longevity at the company. I’ve made the mistake of not asking about this during an interview - then finding out later that the company hadn’t thought about a growth trajectory for my role & didn’t support establishing one when I expressed interest (multiple times.) Needless to say, I am
No longer at that company.

You really don't have to, just secure the job first and work towards it, if necessary!

If you follow the cryptocurrency market, or even have been just taking an interest lately, with the Bitcoin "halvening," you should check out Pi.

If you haven't heard of Pi, it's a new cryptocurrency (like Bitcoin), developed by a bunch of Stanford PhDs. What makes it really interesting is that you can still mine this coin, using just the processing power of your phone, unlike just about every other coin out there. (Contd)

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?

This might be the wrong place to ask but is getting a car worth it?

I think it’ll somewhat improve QOL but with parking, insurance, gas and financing costs I’m not sure spending almost 1K/month is a good idea at 22.

The other problem is that used cars are so damn expensive right now so I can’t just buy a used mx5 for 5-10K

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
