Intermittent Fasting
Easiest way. Skip breakfast. Eat an early lunch. And don’t eat past 6pm. If your teams going to dinner 7-9 pm, skip it. Or limit to 1 team dinner a week.
This is really bad, but I have awful allergies. I buy Factor brand meals and freeze them. Then on Monday I put 3 of them in a thermal lunch box and take them on the plane. I’ll put them in the client refrigerator and eat them around 4pm each day so team dinner to me is usually just a boring salad and a drink. Once your engagement team is used to it, it works. I’ve also been known to just go to Publix or something the first day of the engagement and buy food. Almost 100% of clients have a place to keep and heat food, and I’ve been doing this for 4 years - some people roll their eyes but no one has told me it’s unprofessional or stopped me from doing it.
Taking the factor meals in a lunch box is a really good idea. I've thought about it before, but I feel like I always run out of space in my suitcase and backpack already so I can't deal with more items.
Protein shakes for days, also smoked salmon, jerky, and non fat Greek yogurt.
Skip breakfast and have a protein shake right before lunch and dinner. It will help lower your appetite so you don’t end up overeating what are typically are less healthy meals.
Great advice
Drink an insane amount of water and reduce portion size
McDonald’s but just order the beef patties. Best road hack I know
I bet you like In N Out
Same here - I just order my own stuff from relatively healthier places and my teams have generally been great about finding places that has good options for me too.
Huel and plant based based protein. Take one shaker full of power in my bag and another one to actually mix it. Gives me a solid meal and snack per day. I try to buy some grocery things like Greek yogurt, salad bar box of veggies, and a container of cottage cheese. Work out and avoid alcohol. Plan for one cheat meal for team dinner per trip and eat accordingly in the morning that day. Not easy but very simple to plan and execute. Will power to follow through is the tough part
Be proactive and suggest the restaurant that has an option you are happy with. Whoever is choosing the dinner locations will thank you for giving them a break from always deciding!
I have never been on a team where people actively disliked choices of where to eat if someone else made a suggestion.
What's wrong with vegan places
You should feel comfortable speaking out about your dietary restrictions. As I’ve gotten older, I’m starting to deal with IBS, etc. I’m professional, but pretty transparent about what I can and can’t eat. Most people are more than willing to accommodate. Those who don’t, I don’t feel sorry about brown bagging it. 😆
You would like brown baggin it
