How do you tackle days when you cannot focus or maintain motivation to work? Those billables are looking at me but I just want to nap today.

I take the day if I really don’t feel up to it but I’ve learned to just do a little bit more the days I’m feeling motivated to give myself a cushion. I had two days under 4 hours this week and still billed 37 hours. It balances itself out

like

I do the same. Some very long days and then ... others. It usually works out if you have an employer that permits that flexibility.

This is so real. First, stimulants lol

It helps me make a to do list to think about what I have to do and what the priorities are. Then break it into steps if I need to work backwards to get something done so if I can check on something that might take a while or take a first step.
Also starting with a short amount of time - ex. I’m going to spend 15 on x and won’t look at my phone until then.
Also, making sure I drink water - sometimes that can wake me up or walking to refill my water

Sometimes just a few deep breaths help or a “quick nap” but those can be risky for me bc it might be hard to get stuff done after

OP - I rarely take my medicine because it messes up my sleep

What’s the common process for when a client offering you a job at the end of the project? Do you still have to go through interviews and stuffs like a normal application or the client would just send you an offer?
The client asked me to join their team, we talked about the position (no specific comp yet), and they asked for my resume. Just want to know what the common process is like in this situation, TIA.

Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD

There’s been some posts on the best planning tools (e.g. planners, calendars, etc.), but my question is how do ppl make sure they use them? I get them and am excited about the possibility of them helping for about a week then I just stop using it. Even if I find it helpful I just never stay consistent with it. Does this happen to others? Any tricks or suggestions to stay consistent using planners, to do lists, calendars, etc.

One of the things that my ADD coach helped me with was realizing that I wasn’t prioritizing activities that help me feel recharged. Between work and home responsibilities, I was just burnt out and overwhelmed.

So now when I start to get burned out I focus on reducing auditory overwhelm, getting outside, listen to music, get comfortable, read a fun book, etc.

As we’re heading into the weekend, what are some things you do to recharge and give yourself a break?

I’m switching to Strattera (from Adderal XR) after some stories shared in this bowl, and some family members who have been really happy with it.

On my first full dose today and man the nausea is real. Understanding now why my doctor told me to split the dose into different parts of the day. Should have listened. 😅

I’m one of the only attorneys in my Texas firm that had electricity, internet, and water this week. I was warm and comfortable but still could not get any work done because things going on in the outside world are distracting. When I try to work, I feel like I can barely hold a thought in my mind before I get the “wait, what am I doing again?” feeling. I just want to know, I’m not the only one that struggled this week to do any work, right?
