Meeee tooooo. Distractions aside, I tend to overanalyze everything and sometimes minor issues are almost paralyzing because I spend too long thinking about them instead of just getting something on paper and moving on. I often underwrite my time so I’m not perceived as too inefficient for my class year. Lose/lose.

Same boat. I will reread and reanalyze a paragraph I’ve written until I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time on one thing, then feel overwhelmed when I have so much left to do. I also underwrite my time.

I find that I take a “long time” to do things because I have a lot of processes to help me avoid mistakes. That takes time but it results in better work product and keeps me from missing substantive issues. I think that’s reasonable.

Don’t get distracted. Close your browser and put away your phone. If you stare at the word/pdf doc for long enough you’ll eventually get so bored you’ll have no choice but to work.

So I work for a small company as a SEM/Director… which in my world just means I am really Lead Developer, Part BA and part product owner as well as reviewing the devs. I came up in this company starting at about SE3 of 5 so the position is just kind of what I made it. I have recently been getting interest from some larger companies like Amazon. Long preamble to ask, what are the day to day responsibilities/expectations of an SEM at a FAANG?

Does anyone know how is SAP Fioneer as a company?
I mean, has anyone heard anything negative about it? Because in my research it looked good only, but just wanted to know if anyone has any contradictory opinions.

My manager scheduled a feedback conversation and I know it's bc I've made some noticeable mistakes lately due to moving too fast, not being able to focus, racing thoughts, etc. I'm seeing a therapist about whether I have ADHD and if so, what tx looks like; we started the intake process which will be continued in my 2nd appointment, which is after the feedback convo meeting. Is it worth telling my mgr something eg I recognize the careless mistakes and I'm in the process of seeing tx to help?

One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else? I’ve found that I can actually focus when I truly force myself, but often this happens after I’ve discovered an error or an important piece of information that I should have noticed earlier.

How do you all deal with time management - and specifically time estimate - problems?

I always underestimate how long things will take, both because we ADHD’ers view time differently and because I don’t build in time for getting distracted.

I work with a partner who asks me by when I can get something done rather than giving a deadline. I appreciate the flexibility but I always short sell myself and end up pulling all-nighters to meet my self-imposed unrealistic deadlines.

Alternatively, does anyone have recs of anyone I can to talk to so I can be tested?
