Law is easier than the cpa. Sorry it just is
I’ve never seen this happen. Usually the respect is mutual—one emphasizes the numbers, the other emphasizes the documents/positions.
The line has been becoming blurred recently. As an example, EY has groups where both JDs and CPAs are to provide analytical and document reading capabilities.
I have found that both skills are valuable. I have found that attorneys value writing the letter more so than the calculations on projects.
I haven’t had that experience tbh. They usually defer completely to me. I’ve even had CPAs ask me to calculate utilization for them
People do both. I have to do both even if I don’t want to. It sucks as a lawyer having to review a CPA’s workpapers in an area where I have sometimes limited experience such as provisions
This isn’t my experience at all. Most CPAs, even when more senior, give me a wide berth and do not question anything research or writing related. On the other hand, can be very challenging to be expected to suddenly build a WP or model with no knowledge.
