Personally 1. M&A 2. International Tax
Do all the basics. Partnership, corporate, and international. As well as an M&A course if one is offered. Can’t hurt to do a SALT course too.
Pro
International and M&A are usually what people will say but it’s worthwhile looking into opportunities in Big Law as well if possible. Even if you hate it you’ll get good exposure to a lot of areas and it will look great on a resume and get you in most places you apply afterward.

The dynamism of taxes.
I’m bias because I’m in international and really love it but it’s also scorching hot and has been since 2017.
Seems I can't go wrong with international.
I mean most are probably gonna say m&a transactional tax because of the comp but you also have to think of the lifestyle wlb you want. That field can be very tough and unpredictable. Partnership, international, corporate M&A, and SALT classes will make you well-rounded. You’ll need to pick a specialty based on what you enjoy.
I’m not sure if Georgetown has a financial products class, but if it does you should consider taking it. Not for everyone, but in my experience it’s in high demand, we’ll compensated, and decent WLB.
They do. Thank you for the heads up.
Okay, thanks for that insight.
International tax will become more of a thing I think, esp with more people doing remote working/digital nomad lifestyles - companies are trying to catch up
