How does transgender work in the military? 🤔 if you identify as a male, you get to train as a male too? Curious.

It’s google-able but eh. Might as well answer it so there isn’t any boo hoos on either side

If I identify as female can I get pregnant to get out of deployment?

like

You can certainly get out of field problems.

So it’s in policy. It may have changed since I left in 2018.

Back then, it was documented and the process was long. If you identified as a Trans soldier you did PT as your identified gender. If you are pre-transition, they will begin the process of transitioning you. Back then, there was no gender-fluidity. There is no other separation outside of PT. They even had gender-neutral PT tests that they got rid of due to gender based failures being too high to justify.

No problem

We all train the same. I don't see what one has to do with the other.

Thank you so much! I now understand the standards.

There is extensive training on this for service members. BLUF as I recall from training last year is that you abide by your gender listed in DEERS no matter what you identify by. To begin the process you have to meet with medical staff and create a treatment plan. You remain as your DEERS identified gender until that treatment plan is completed and a doc certifies it. Even though your DEERS gender may not be what you identify as, commanders have a lot of flexibility to accommodate training events and what not as needed to balance treatment plan, readiness, and comfort of the soldier. Once treatment plan is completed and certified by a doc, the DEERS gender can change and the soldier will adjust to their new gender requirements for training, standards, etc…

Thank you so much for your helpful and knowledge response.

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

For those of you who got out at 10, do you wish that you rode it out to 20? I’m at a crossroad and I’m not sure what to do. Have some active/reserve time, wrapping up graduate school, and am now considering either a) come back to the business world or b) go active and retire before 50 and live off a nice pension. Obviously there are draws to both. I’m an officer for what it’s worth so I can realistically retire at O-5, MAYBE O-6.

To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.
