Barring personal emergencies or more time-sensitive work that needs to take priority, you should be meeting your deadlines (and communicating to your team when you need to adjust a deadline).
Everyone has their own way of keeping track of their deliverables - I use the Tasks function on Microsoft Outlook, but I know people who swear by writing everything down. Try different approaches and figure out what works best for you.
Meeting deadlines is imperative. If that’s not possible it’s important to communicate with your supervisor prior to the deadline. To be successful you will need to change your “coin flip” approach and attitude. Please take this as constructive, not negative.
My deadline is when people are up my ass about it. If I’m not being harassed about it must not be important. It works
I try to hit every deadline I can. Sometimes things come up and fires have to be put out. Which can cause me to miss a deadline or two
Whoever shouts the loudest generally gets served first in these situations. It has always been thus.
