I lived in Cameron village (near DT raleigh) and commuted when not traveling. Heavy traffic going out towards RTP.
Lived in Morrisville/Cary when I was about 25 - I’d say the Raleigh area is super bro-y and young, the surrounding suburbs is basic suburbia BUT what I liked about it was the combination of lower COL than DC + good jobs + high percentage of educated progressive people. Your mileage may vary depending on the type of lifestyle and people you’re looking for, but I could see that being a place I’d be willing to relocate to from DC if I was looking for the suburban life.
Def cost! I found this one place with reasonable living costs after a while in US!
I’m from NC, lived by the beach most of my life, lived in Raleigh for a a summer, now live in Charlotte so a little biased. RTP area is great. Lot of college kids, techs growing rapidly, and great food. I’d recommend the Mooresville/Cary area but there’s a bunch of great places in short distance of RDU.
Also home to the biggest college sports rivalry ever
I don’t really commute to RTP, looking to live close to Airport.
Downtown/Cameron village is about 20-25 minutes to the airport. Cary is probably about 10-15 minutes to the airport. There are a lot of apartment complexes right off the interstate.
How if life there otherwise?
