Are you even for real? English is a UNIVERSAL language accepted by all countries and you NEED it for work, life and everything else. Even to chat on this app. Not hindi or Bengali or Chinese or French or other such languages which are all optional. Even people in hindi states learn their subjects in English out of their own interest. It'll be imposition of hindi on them as well if they are forced to learn physics, computer science etc. in hindi in these days of technological advance. People in North don't have to know Telugu or Kannada or Malayalam but why people in south have to learn hindi.
'Providing alternate language options' is a fancy term for 'imposing hindi. As I said, I myself have done BA in hindi through options available. But if I don't want to learn it, why should it be forced upon me? In fact, people from North are coming to South, be it for IT or for manual labor. People in the south either stay here or go abroad. Why should people in south be forced to learn hindi then? Why can't we 'Provide alternate language options' to hindi states and make them learn other Indian languages? If population is the parameter (40% etc), then Crow should have been our national bird and not peacock (as said by leaders earlier).
Thought I was talking to a sensible person. Looks like it is not the case when you brought in learning in English as an imposition to counter hindi imposition.
By the way, you didn't have to start this discussion in the first place when my post was about something else completely and in totally different context. Really unwarranted and unfortunate that you hijacked the conversation.
Asli lafda toh north indians ke saath hai🤣.....Hindi speakers get roasted all the time for not being able to speak kannada.
Yeah, the Cauvery issue is a sensitive topic between T.N and KAR . However it has rained enough in both the states this year... everywhere the dams were overflowing in Karnataka.I think people in both the states are good natured and peace loving...only politicians like to divide people for this issue
Not at all . Sometimes I speak in Tamil to auto / cab drivers .
.
What's the deal with speaking Tamil? Am I missing something here?
Cauvery issue
Generally there is no big issue in Bangalore to speak in ur native language... except around a few local people who are influenced by politics.
However if you are in Chennai / TN..this language racism is very common and harsh ...hope now you can understand north indian people situations in TN 😇
The issue happens once in a while even at smaller levels. Even recently, one taxi driver said how Tamil people do galatta for cauvery water. So the fear is still there.
You'll not see protest in the north because no one is imposing another language such as Telugu, Haryanvi or Bengali on you. However, hindi is being imposed on people in the south even though it is not required and people are not interested. Those who are interested in learning any new language can do it but you cannot force it upon everyone. Be it any cause, only people who are impacted and minorities protest and not the people who are privileged or are not affected by it.
People being rude is everywhere, be it north or south. In fact, it's extreme in some places. For example, people from UP and Bihar were beaten up in Maharashtra. Similarly, the road rage incidents in Delhi Punjab etc. where people even kill each other. Or how people in certain states behave when traveling in trains for example. So, let's not highlight just one place, especially given that it consistently ranks among the safest cities in the entire country.
This is another perception that Hindi is being imposed, despite every state having its own native language as the official language, which rightfully promotes local languages and cultures. In the 21st century, we must move beyond such stereotypical thoughts and embrace our diversity with unity.
According to this logic, English has been imposed more than any other language, whether in CBSE or other place, despite it not being an Indian language. Yet, has there been the same level of protest against it?
In a multilingual country like ours, we should provide alternative language options that are understood by more than 40% of our population, alongside promoting our mother tongues. Moreover, let's encourage and incentivize people to learn local languages and cultures so that we can truly embrace and celebrate the diversity of all languages and cultures.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. Let’s agree to disagree 😊
