I prefer a minimum of 3 nights, 4 days.
For a pitch it really depends on the timing in the RFP - when the agency receives it to when its due. Im working in a pitch now, we received the RFP 10/15, the presentation is due 11/6. Within those 20 days, we have to staff, develop a brief, concept, create rips, and fine tune final doc. So yeah, its speedy and you're lucky if you can get a couple days before sharing with your CD.
You get days? lol jk I think if it’s a healthy timeline its’s nice to have 1-2 days at minimum and then expectations be higher level concepts versus blown out ideas. For business pitch timeline is usually really tight but hopefully Strat gives a good brief so you won’t need as much time

What is the norm for new business?
It’s hard to say. It depends on when they brief and when the first presentation is.
If they’ve got two weeks, it’ll probably be in one or two days. If they’ve got a month or two, they’ll probably try to give you 3-5.
It all really depends.
Make sense!
