Struggling to keep positive about finding a new permanent job - I was laid off at the end of April, have applied to over 60 jobs, had 6 interviews, and no offers. I can’t go back to chain retail - it damn near broke me in my 20’s, and it’s much worse now.

I have an interview tomorrow to work at a fintech startup. I'm slightly worried as I'm not sure what it'll be like working While they use functional programming which I enjoy, I'm concerned about how much pressure I'll be under.

What is it like working at a fintech company? Is the salary at a fintech company typically higher than other tech jobs? It'll be higher than gamedev, but just wanted to learn about whether the pressure will be worth it eventually etc.

My monthly salary is around $6.4k after-tax. Living in NYC. Do you think it’s reasonable that I pay:
- about $1.5k on rent
- about $500 on utilities and subscriptions
- about $900 on student loan
- about $2k on food and etc.
My saving goals is around $3k so been trying to adjust my monthly spending.

As part of the process they will send me some real pitch decks and I will need to do 1-pager investment thesis for each one. I have never done that in the past. Can you please guide me? I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. They said they'd be interested in working with me to do a research paper over the coming semester, and was wondering if I could leverage this into a full time offer?

Do I have a chance to interview? How might I best demonstrate interest and competency?

Looking to do a career pivot into VC. Have 12+ years of B2B tech marketing experience with IBM, Google, Deloitte and a number of startups. Have skills in messaging, product launches, and sales and enjoy diving deep on my personal investments (all public companies beyond a few RSUs). Have an MBA in the back pocket too.
