My monthly salary is around $6.4k after-tax. Living in NYC. Do you think it’s reasonable that I pay:
- about $1.5k on rent
- about $500 on utilities and subscriptions
- about $900 on student loan
- about $2k on food and etc.
My saving goals is around $3k so been trying to adjust my monthly spending.

Why 2k on food? That seems to be the place for adjusting.

like

I should’ve been clearer. Food & etc. = groceries, restaurants/deliveries, transportation, clothes

like

+1 on the Food and Misc budget

But also if you’re splitting utilities, that should come out to $250 max unless you’re including building service fees or amenity fees. What subscriptions do you have? Things could be cut there potentially.

like

You added annual subscriptions to a monthly budget? Pro rate it and that decreases your monthly expenditure.

like

P.S. I’m sharing rent with my SO

like

Both the utilities and subscriptions and food seem really high.

$5k a year is about what I spend for utilities and subscriptions and have - 2k square foot house to heat/cool in the northeast.

$1k covers us for food and household items for two adults and a toddler.

helpful

I would say pull back on the food & misc. until you finish paying off your student loans.

For reference I’m at about twice your take home with no debt and spend almost $2,000 on just going out and groceries/mo. Not sure what all you’re including in miscellaneous but I also save/invest about $4-5k/mo.

like

Plus again on food and utilities. If you are splitting, you must have every possible subscription there is, or I should assume not splitting cause 1k/month is wild amount for that

I had a call w/ a recruiter and after hearing about the job, I *really* want it. But I’m worried I priced myself out of the role. I sent my resume/portfolio after and haven’t even gotten a reply that she received it, and I’ve followed up. I’ve been getting recruiter messages offering salaries up to 120k for copy/senior copy roles (which surprised me) so I gave 110-120 as a range on the call. She hesitantly said she thought 115 would be OK. But wondering if the salary could be the issue? Thought?

HELP! When using other offers to negotiate salary, does the employer usually ask for proof of your other offers that you mentioned? I’m super new to this so I’m just curious.

Also, if they do ask to show proof, is that a red flag? Or is that pretty common? If so, I imagine I’d just block out the company name and stuff like that?

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I have submitted the BGV details on the link shared by HR.
When can I expect the salary discussion with HRs?
Are they really listen about the salary we are asking.
How long will it take to get the offer letter from now?
