Salaries have been a joke lately but even in high paying cities like LA or NY, 200k is CD level and higher.
Usually 10+ years experience (15 for tech)
Maybe 7-8 years if you have good experience or awards
I’m at 200 but that includes RSUs + 10 years experience
Rising Star
I hit 200k at the director level in maybe 2010ish at Ogilvy NY
NYTimes said $200k is new $100k in 2004.

Technically 140k is the new 100k but philosophically I agree with you
I guess that makes me feel a little bit better haha
$200K+ in 2023 with 25 years. For reference I started at $30K a year in 1998. Long slog 🤣
Same! My starting salary in 1997 out of college was $29K and that was considered “high”
This makes me feel super behind at 7 years of experience and just broke $100k a few months ago
You’re not behind at all and it sounds like you’re on a good track. I’ve never been on the creative side, but work with them my whole career. Salary is largely driven by what city/market you’re in, years of experience, plus other factors like your technical or specialized skills. And remember that your salary can also vary if your client, media, or brand side.
Haven’t hit 200k yet but I’m getting close as an ACD in LA. Expecting to hit it as a CD in the next couple of years, which would be about 10 years since I began working.
I think I crossed into that when I was a VP, ACD (probably over 10 years ago).
It’s for budget reasons when the account doesn’t have funds to promote to CD but wants to reward for good performance.
Plenty of VP Assos Strat Directors
I passed 200K a few years ago. About15years experience.
Senior Director/VP - five years ago.
Very curious about this 👀
Just passed $200k switching to brand side last year, but wasn’t even close on the agency side before that. Staff design IC role, 15 years experience.
$200k in 2021 - 20 years
200k, 10 years experience, group director
I passed it last year…in about mid-may I think.
at this rate, probably never gonna be me
9 years going to my 10th, 135k. in one of the most expensive cities in the world (SF)
are there no hopes for me to climb anymore ?
:(
