A lawyer at a different firm than mine told me their regular practice is to bill the time it used to take to do projects when seeing the issues for the first time, not the actual time it takes now that they have figured out how to do the projects efficiently.

like

Well, it certainly explained why they often had so much free time. They’re no longer with that firm and this may be a reason why.

like

Most folks I know are in one of two camps: either they under bill to the point of looking underutilized, getting more work and getting burned out, or they “maximize” their time and have some semblance of a life from time to time.

I end up cutting time because partners complain about efficiency.

What are folks thoughts on nuclear power? I have heard there are many detractors. Before getting into consulting, I was trained to operate a nuclear power plant on a submarine and learned about this excellent source of energy.

The main issues I see with it are the initial upfront costs to setup (with the cheapest generation costs thereafter), and disposal of nuclear waste (which some new technologies are being developed to reuse the waste in a different kind of reactor).

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Hi, weird question for this forum, so I apologize. I’m trying to be creative here and use the tv stand that I have. The issue is that it has an open back so you can see all my tv wires. I can’t hide the wires because my building won’t let me open the wall. My idea was to slip a tile sheet that is wall behind the tv stand as a back, but I need the tile cut to the specific heigh and width of the tv stand. Does anyone know where I can take this tile sheet to get cut to the specific measurements?
