That’s a fairly common job perk but is not guaranteed. Not all practices have the space for employee boarding, but many do. Definitely clear it with management beforehand. My hospital has a room for employee dogs, we provide our own crate and clean up after our own animals. Walk them on our breaks.
Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely check on that this week. I would feel so much better about getting a dog if I knew I could bring him to work with me.
You have to consult it with your management. They can give you the best answers for that. Not all clinics allow their employees to bring their pets so it's safer to ask them directly about it. No harm in trying.
It may be best to have the pup in daycare, that way it is guaranteed a walk and time to socialize. Sometimes boarding kennels in clinics don’t have ample space/some pets, depending on their level of separation anxiety will have a harder time adjusting to not being able to spend more time with people. It also comes down to how much you are able to spend on daycare and boarding a week.
There are daycares in my area where it’s about $30-40 and some will have packages to save you money. A pet sitter may also be an option if it’s just a few days, their rates may be as low as $25/visit.
At the animal clinic I work at they also allow us to bring our pets. We have little waiting areas for patients that staff can bring their pets into while they work
My clinic’s doctor office is attached to our treatment area and we put a baby gate in the door way to keep our pets there. All three doctors have pets (two have small dogs that they bring and one brings her cat that hangs out) and two of us assistants have small dogs that come with us daily. Sometimes we have to shut the door because some of the dogs will bark or we have aggressive patients that come in but we have adapted and can’t picture our days without the herd 😂
I have a dog and I send him to doggy daycare and he loves it. He is so spoiled. They have cameras there and I can see what he is doing. They celebrate holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. OMG, it's adorable!
