Project management after a couple years in a salt role at Amazon Google Microsoft etc is where a lot of folks find success transitioning out of tax completely, especially some niche folks like salt
Tax technology. So awesome. Lots of work. Great projects. You know enough about tax to help other clients build tax technology solutions. Easy to learn. Happy to talk. Many opportunities at Deloitte.
I dabble in alteryx (really just getting started) I am intrigued
I work in global risk working with a tax compliance team. No tax returns are filed by our team. Tax knowledge is helpful but most of team are not CPAs. I earn into six figures and am learning how to grow internally. You can leave tax and pivot to something new using your talents and knowledge.
There are tech related opportunities that deal with the various tax forms that you could look into. I’m sure PwC has a team for that - if not, Deloitte definitely does
I second this. It’s definitely a niche area, but it translates to many tech opportunities.
I was in tax and am now in global compliance and risk. I like it. For my group, I’m still in tax field. Great career path.
Do you have any referrals for the NyC area?
I’d say pivot to tax tech and learn a non-firm technology like Alteryx. Then get out.
