Someone I know has been with the company since 2013 😂 and is the only company they have ever worked for.
I'm not really sure if I agree that it is the best thing for your career. I think especially early on working with different companies and different people make you more skilled.
I interned and worked at a company for almost 5 years and when I switched jobs, it was a struggle for me to do things differently or work in different systems. Learned so much more by switching jobs. . . You'd be in a much better position to interview and obviously switching jobs has given me bigger pay hikes than staying in the same company.
All that being said, everyone is different! Do what makes you happy!
Totally common. I was offered a position at the first company I interned for, and even though I only stayed with the company for one year after my internship, it was a great opportunity to build my skills in a familiar environment.
I did. I thought it was awesome to already know the ins and outs. To know everyone. It was an easy transition to my first real-world job.
It is becoming increasingly common for people to intern with a company prior to being hired. In my experience, many of my peers in the tech industry have done internships prior to being hired. It certainly has been a great way to get a foot in the door and build relationships with the company before being offered a permanent position.
