How many times is too many times? I just had the third conversation in 5 months with my manager about raising my salary. I even asked him today if he knows that I'm never getting the raise approved but just stalling on telling me the truth. He's not. He says "They're actively working on it". Should I be offended it's taking this long or is this how it goes?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
