How much are senior 3s in Chicago (or similar COL cities) making in FDD?

Is it just me or has there been a noticeable brain drain in banking in the past few years? Analysts are not what they used to be.

SO and I (no kids) will be moving to Bay Area in early 2020 with a car. Both will be working in the Palo Alto / Mountain View Area. Better to just live where we work or possible to commute from SF?

So a company I interviewed with took me to the final round but rejected me for an architect role. Then, two months later the hiring manager hits me up for a manager role he thought I would be a good fit before the job was posted. We had a call and he said he thought I would be a long shot replying back to him. Also, he said everyone liked me and no need to interview. He said he has to post it and let HR do their thing before he can make a final decision. Why post a job if you want me for it?

Audit A2 in NYFS right now. Is there any hope for me to get into FDD now, and does it even make sense for me to jump at this point rather than make senior first? I need some advice. No deal experience

Differences in FDD at accounting firms (big 4, rsm, GT, etc) vs non-accounting firms (HL, A&M, FTI)?

Interviewing soon with EY for a senior role (TD FSO). I originally applied for their core practice but the recruiter convinced me that since I’m coming from a financial services audit background, I’d be better suited for their FSO practice. When do you actually start to feel useful in FDD? I've been in FDD for 6 going to 7 months and sometimes I still feel like I'm doing the grunt work non critical thinking.
