There are actual fairness rules that require companies to post positions publicly before they can fill them, especially if the company is a government contractor. It happens when they fill roles internally as well.
Yep. LinkedIn showed 20 people have applied for it so I am like well we will see.
I think they definitely want you for it based on your conversation with him but they definitely have to post a position and have you officially apply before moving forward. I had something like this happen to me and I still got the position after they posted it so don't worry. I still think you've got it.. keep us posted.
I think the company is in trouble.!
I have had kinda situation, i had an interview and technical things etc, spend 1 day solving technical assessment though i did well but they just dissappear and stop replying me.
After 4 months applying casually I received a call from recruiter he said we can talk bla bla bla and lots of good things and asked me to join the company without interview.
But as i joined the company very next day they asked me to have a meeting tomorrow and it was weekend.
They said we'll pay extra and this and that, i was curious but didn't said anything and came to see what's happening.
During the meeting i noticed the project's deadline is about to end and they haven't finished half or it. They wanted to have an MVP so they can fool the client.
I believe if they want to skip their protocols there must be something fishy.
I think legally, you have to post a job before being able to give it away like that.
Bureaucracy. That's happened to me plenty of times over the years. They have to jump through hoops and clear any red tape before they can hire who they want. If you're that person, great!
He never asked me to apply for it but it also could be that I am already in the system. It is for a pretty successful early stage startup.
Some of them have to post the job because of their rules. I would say go for it as long as you are happy with the company, comp, and job.
Sometimes it's just bureaucracy/policy. They have to at least let other people have a chance to see it and inquire. But I don't necessarily think it's sketchy. It's not like nepotism or something - they had already interviewed you and knew you were a fit.
Also, a great reminder not to ever burn a bridge. ;-)
The job has to post and you have to apply for it. The fact that the manager asked you to apply for it is a good thing. That manager has to interview all internal candidates and may need to give preference to the aspiring managers that apply. Wait, this is not a HCA role is it? HCA has many opportunities, would you want to leave? The grass is not always greener you know. Best of luck to you.
