All depends on what ‘retire’ means to you ? At 55 you have a whole other potential career ahead of you .., and never met anyone who lasted longer than 12 mos at travel , golf , hobby type lifestyle ..

Liquid NW looks a little light, but in good position vs most. I’m a few years younger and my liquid NW is maybe 7x higher.

Here's a consulting answer - it depends. You're welcome.

Tell me how much your shoes cost and I'll tell you how much you need.

My most expensive shoes cost me $700 - but I’ve had them for over 11 years and had them resoled 4 times. I can easily get another 5 years out of them. They will easily end up being the cheapest shoes I own. Buy once, buy quality.

Liquid assets of at least 25x (33x is better) your pre-tax spending. Don’t forget to add private healthcare costs to the spending.

This is probably the most accurate answer. Assuming a primary residence owned outright, no other debt, and no college expenses for kids, using the 4% rule $3M is $120K/year (at a lower tax rate than before) and is plenty unless you want to live a jet setter life. I've spent the last 25+ years living out of airports and hotels, no thanks.

25x-40x spend. 25 bare min and 40 luxe spend. I’m targeting somewhere in btw with 40 as stretch goal

As a Deloitte MD, don’t embarrass us further, buddy. The BCG person just answered the question. I would think a big 4 accounting consulting guy can now connect the remaining dots. 😃😃

What about the question is embarrassing or surprising?

How much is pre tax annual spending per person that you would target at retirement
- so $20 k a month, $10k etc.

Yes 15k for both

Can anyone tell me the difference between a senior and lead validation engineer( no direct reports in both cases) in Pharma/ biotech ? I am not sure what’s the hierarchy and which level must get a higher salary. Or is it just referenced interchangeably in different companies ?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Hello! I’m gearing up for my year end comp conversation and I’d like to be a better idea of what people are making to ask for a raise. I work for a large asset manager and sell alternative investments (PE, RE, Credit, Infra etc) to RIAs, family offices, and multi family offices. I’m currently an associate, but am hoping to get VP this cycle. Any insight on what your comp looks like and how it’s structured would be super helpful!

Hi Everyone!

A company has made an offer and I wanted to understand if i'm being made a fool.

The monthly compensation is 1,37,500 (16,50,000 yearly) and Variable component (Bonus) is 1,50,000.

However in the offer it says "You shall be paid an annual compensation of Rs. 16,50,000/- per annum Cost to Company."

Which to me sounds like it doesn't consider 1,50,000 to be a part of CTC which is suspicious to me.

How should I deal with this?

Thank you!
