Why are you negotiating salary if you're leaving? Does the company not know yet? Are they trying to keep you?

like

Looking for a counter-offer? Like why? You're looking/leaving for a reason so stick with that plan. Never accept an counter-offer.

I would assume you negotiate it with your new employer unless we’re missing some important information here - a bit more context would probably be helpful for us to provide a detailed answer.

Do you want to stay? Or are you ready to walk?

why are you trying to negotiate salary with a company you are leaving?

Are you leaving the company only because of money, or for other reasons?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

Is there an other product engineer that could tell me if my gut feeling is right or not? Thanks in advance!
