I would bring it up asap. If your manager decides to punt it couple months to the next review, I would start looking elsewhere today.
That’s fair. I think it really depends on how transparent and fair the company has been overall. If I felt brushed off or told to “wait,” that would definitely be a red flag for me too.
But it also depends on how much your coworker is making more than you, if they recently got hired and if this is more of a systemic issue within the team if there were a lot more recent hires. It’s only fair to bring your salary up to market as well. It’s ridiculous companies don’t think we won’t talk among each other eventually about comp
